Prophet Fufeyin Launches ‘Anointed Nightwear’

Warri, Nigeria — Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, the founder and spiritual leader of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry (CMDM), is currently the centre of heated debate after unveiling a line of “anointed nightwear” for women—designed to be worn to bed with their husbands to enhance reproductive success.

In a viral video circulating across social media platforms, the flamboyant prophet was seen presenting the garments to a jubilant congregation. Addressing fertility concerns among couples, Fufeyin stated:

“If your husband has low sperm count, don’t worry. Just wear this anointed nightwear to bed. Your story will change. There is power in spiritual direction.”

The garments, described by the prophet as spiritually charged, are said to be specifically tailored for married women struggling with conception due to issues like low sperm count.

Public Reactions: Between Faith and Outrage

The announcement has sparked a flurry of reactions from Nigerians online. While some faithfuls received the initiative with hope and excitement, many others criticised the move as yet another episode in the ongoing commercialisation of religion in Nigeria.

“This is getting ridiculous. Religion has now entered the bedroom with merchandise,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter).

“The sad part is, people will buy it in desperation,” commented another.

“Why not focus on medical check-ups and science instead of selling nightgowns as solutions?” asked @mfon_doctor on Instagram.

Some have also raised concerns about the monetisation of personal struggles like infertility and how such actions exploit vulnerable couples.

“This isn't ministry. It’s marketing. And sadly, it works on the gullible,” said a Facebook user from Port Harcourt.

Church Defends Product
In response to criticism, a senior aide of the church who spoke anonymously defended the launch:

“People who are spiritual understand that God works in mysterious ways. Prophet Jeremiah has always been a vessel of divine instruction. If this is how God chooses to help someone, who are we to question?”
As of this report, CMDM has not officially released pricing for the nightwear, nor clarified how distribution will be handled. However, based on the church's previous merchandise—including anointed water and prayer mantles—there are expectations that the nightwear will soon be available at the church’s headquarters in Warri and possibly online.

Closing Thoughts

The use of religious faith in personal matters like fertility is not new in Nigeria, where spirituality often intersects with medical and personal choices. However, the rise of “anointed commodities” continues to test the boundary between faith and exploitation.

As one online user sarcastically put it:

“At this rate, we might soon see anointed boxers for men too.”
