Itsekiri Youth for Good Governance (IYGG) Commend Olu of Warri for Outstanding Leadership and Humanitarian Initiatives

 

Warri, Nigeria – March 16, 2025

The leadership and members of the Itsekiri Youth for Good Governance (IYGG) have expressed profound appreciation to His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, the Olu of Warri, for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people and his philanthropic contributions to Deltans, Niger Deltans, and Nigerians at large.

In a statement signed by IYGG Chairman, Mone Oris, and Secretary, Metsaghanrun S. Oki, the group commended the Olu of Warri for implementing various impactful programs that prioritize the well-being of the common man, especially during this challenging economic period.

Transformational Initiatives by the Olu of Warri

The statement highlighted several key initiatives spearheaded by His Majesty:

Financial Assistance for Itsekiris: Thousands of Itsekiris have received financial aid to mitigate the economic hardships currently affecting the nation. This initiative has brought relief to many families and individuals.

Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR Quiz Competition: This educational program, which brought together 64 schools from Warri and its environs, has helped instill academic excellence and unity among teenagers. The competition covered seven local government areas, extending beyond the three Warri local governments. The grand prize winner will receive ₦10 million, with other contestants also receiving significant financial rewards.

WAEC Examination Sponsorship: Over 130 students from Warri and neighboring communities have had their West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees fully covered, ensuring they have access to quality education.

Bursary Program for Itsekiri Students: More than 1,500 Itsekiri students in higher institutions across Nigeria have benefited from bursary payments, easing their financial burdens and promoting academic success.

Free Medical Services: His Majesty’s medical outreach has extended beyond the Itsekiri community, benefiting the Urhobos, Ijaws, Aniomas, Igalas, Isokos, Calabars, Benins, Hausas, Igbos, and other ethnic groups, reaffirming his commitment to unity and national development.

Orphanage Feeding Program: A dedicated initiative is currently providing food and essential support to orphans, ensuring their well-being.


A Royal Leader Recognized by the Nation

These philanthropic efforts have not gone unnoticed. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has publicly acknowledged the Olu of Warri’s contributions, describing him as “a pride to Nigeria.” His Majesty’s leadership continues to inspire and uplift communities across the Niger Delta and beyond.

The IYGG also extended their appreciation to Prince Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema, the handler of the Itsekiri Empowerment Initiative and Quiz Competition, for his dedication to executing these impactful programs.
