Events Celebrating the 3rd Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR

 


As the Kingdom of Warri prepares to celebrate the 3rd Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, the air is thick with anticipation and pride. This week-long celebration, running from Monday, 19th August, to Sunday, 25th August 2024, is set to be a magnificent display of culture, tradition, and reverence for our esteemed monarch.

Day 1: Monday, 19th August – Praise and Worship
The festivities will commence with a solemn Praise and Worship session at the Palace Church, Aghofen. Beginning at 11:00 am, this spiritual gathering will set the tone for the week, offering thanks to the Almighty for His Majesty’s reign and the prosperity of the Itsekiri Kingdom. This day is dedicated to reflection and gratitude, bringing together the royal family and subjects in a harmonious chorus of praise.

Day 2: Tuesday, 20th August – Homage and Anniversary Lecture
The second day will see a convergence of wisdom and tradition as dignitaries, subjects, and well-wishers gather for the Homage/Anniversary Lecture. Taking place at the Palace Auditorium, Aghofen, at 12:00 pm, this event will feature thought-provoking discussions and tributes that honor the legacy and forward-thinking vision of His Majesty. It’s a time to pay respect and reflect on the profound impact of His Majesty's leadership.

Day 3: Wednesday, 21st August – Anniversary and Homage Paying
Homage paying continues on Wednesday at the Palace Auditorium, Aghofen, starting at 11:00 am. This day allows more subjects and visiting dignitaries to pay their respects to His Majesty. The outpouring of admiration and loyalty is expected to be deeply moving as the Kingdom unites in celebration of the monarch’s unwavering commitment to his people.

Day 4: Thursday, 22nd August – Journey to Big Warri
Thursday is a day steeped in traditional activities and cultural expressions. The day begins with a ceremonial take-off to Big Warri from the Warri Boat Yard at 10:00 am. Upon arrival, homage will be paid at Ode-Itsekiri’s Big Hall at 12:00 noon, followed by a play presentation in the evening at 6:00 pm. This day will highlight the rich heritage of the Itsekiri people, as art, history, and culture converge to honor His Majesty.

Day 5: Friday, 23rd August – Novelty Match and Homage Paying
The fifth day kicks off with a lively Novelty Match organized by the Olori Ladies at the F.L.F.A Training Ground in Ode-Itsekiri at 9:00 am. The spirit of competition and camaraderie will be in full display as participants honor His Majesty through sports. Later at 12:00 noon, homage paying will continue in the Big Hall, Ode-Itsekiri, as the Kingdom's subjects reaffirm their loyalty and devotion to the crown.

Day 6: Saturday, 24th August – Awards and Cultural Showcase
Saturday promises to be a day of accolades and artistic expression. At 12:00 noon, distinguished Itsekiris will be honored with awards at the Palace Auditorium, Aghofen, in recognition of their contributions to the Kingdom and beyond. The day will conclude with a grand Music & Poetry Concert presented by the Royal Iwere Choir at the Palace Church, Aghofen, at 5:00 pm. This concert will be a feast for the senses, celebrating His Majesty’s reign through the beauty of music and spoken word.

Day 7: Sunday, 25th August – Thanksgiving Service
The week-long festivities will culminate in a Thanksgiving Service at the Palace Church, Aghofen, at 11:00 am. This service will be a time of communal worship and thanksgiving, as the Kingdom reflects on the past three years of His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III’s reign and looks forward to a future of continued peace, prosperity, and progress.

This Coronation Anniversary is more than just a celebration; it is a reaffirmation of the bond between the monarch and his people. Join us as we honor His Majesty, celebrate our rich cultural heritage, and look forward to the future under his wise and benevolent leadership.
