Attempted Assassination of Olu of Warri in Okere Community by Ayiri Emami's Hired Thugs

The long rebellious and recalcitrant actions of Ayiri Emami took a different turn yesterday as Ayiri led faction of Okere youth and other ugly looking hired thugs disrupted the "Ugwa Olu," i.e., the royal visitation of Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, the Olu of Warri to the people of Okere yesterday in an attempt to kill the Olu of Warri and other individuals loyal to the King. The deposed Ologbotsere of Warri physically assaulted and attempted to kill the Olu of Warri in Okere Community if not for the timely intervention of the security personnel around and some youth of Iwere Nation loyal to the King.

These set of Ayiri loyalists at Okere community have been physically assaulting the lives of innocent citizens loyal to the Olu of Warri in the community. They have illegally and forcefully formed a parallel youth administration just to cause a breakdown of law and order in Okere. A few weeks back, they attempted to kill one barrister Oki but the timely efforts of the few youth around rescued him.

It's pertinent to emphasize here that the visit of the Olu of Warri to Okere Community led to a breach of law and order when the Ayiri led faction in Okere led by David Iwere, Oyibo Awani, Toju Awani, Lucky Esu, Bumi Ireyefoju, Misan Ogbegbe, and others mobilized some youths to physically assault, throw stones, and attempt to take the life of the Olu of Warri.

The attack on the Olu of Warri and his entourage started when he stepped his feet at the Okere Community Town Hall for prayers. These set of rebellious individuals resisted the Olu from entering the town hall, claiming they had been ordered by Ayiri Emami to take the life of anyone who attempts to stop them. They went as far as physically assaulting, shooting guns, and throwing all kinds of stones at the Olu of Warri just to ensure they achieved the directives of Ayiri Emami.

Subsequently, the security personnel present were physically attacked, shot at in order to disarm them, and stoned by the members of the Ayiri faction-led miscreants who have been terrorizing the community. In response, the military had to defend themselves from these attacks and safeguard their arms from being stolen and also protect the life of the Olu of Warri. Not fewer than 10 persons sustained various degrees of injury and properties worth millions were destroyed by these persons.

Thus, the major gladiators of this attack against the Olu of Warri were arrested by security agencies at the scene of the incident in Okere Community. One of the armed thugs who told the senior military personnel at the scene of the event that he was there to ensure that the order of Ayiri is carried to the letter, Bumi Ireyefoju, Misan Ogbegbe, are currently at large, but are sending threat messages to take the life of the Olu of Warri and his loyal subjects as at the time of filing this report.
